The Standing Stones

July 9, 2014

Stonehenge2007 07 30.jpg
Circle of Stones,
Splendor of Aeons,
Rulers of Salisbury’s plain,
Ponderously you Dance,
in my Imagination,
Pulse beat of a Nation,
England’s Heritage,
Harkening back to,
the Dawn of Creation,
Giants wrought of Rock,
what Druidic Secrets,
did you Witness?
What Masons Crafted,
your Majestic Wonder and Glory?
Whose Graves do you Keep?
Monoliths Standing Sentinel,
Keeping Watch,
Down the Endless Ages,
Ringing in the Millenia
How I long to Touch,
your Textured Surfaces,
Feel and Experience,
the Wisdom you have Gathered,
Long may you Reign!

In response to Poetry Prompt #17 – Dreamflights
This week, write about a place-a sight to see, a country you want to visit and travel to. You should write about how you imagine it, idolize it and dream about it. It should be a place you have never been to.

  1. A historical poem! How unusual and fun to read. Thanks for sharing. =)

  2. Lovely poem, but I might be a bit biased since Stonehenge is my number 1 sight to see and I just love reading and hearing about it, even though it is so popular, I can never get enough 🙂

  3. Suzanne permalink

I like that idea – a world ruled by standing stones – I could live there 🙂
