Yesterday my sister Bess and my two nieces from Washington State came into town for a visit. It was great to see them! I hadn’t seen the girls since they were children six or seven years ago. They’re teenagers now, one thirteen, the other sixteen, both of them growing up and filling out. I hardly recognized them.
We had a barbecue at my sister Rachel’s house. My brother Emmett and his two daughters were there and so was Mom. We had: hot dogs, hamburgers, sweet sausage patties, potato salad, cole slaw, baked beans, cheese puffs, potato chips, sweet pickles, olives and brownies for dessert. For beverages there was a choice of iced tea or black cherry Koolade. I’d forgotten how good the Koolade tasted. It was nice sitting on the deck under the shade trees enjoying the gentle breeze and the humidity wasn’t too bad. We visited and caught up with all their news. Everyone seemed to have a good time.
