Ode To A Spring Morning

April 28, 2014

napofeature4Dawn steals over the land
That gentle thief of the night
The first dimly seen
Glimmerings of sunlight
Break out streakily
Crossing the eastern horizon
Reaching, grasping fingers
Pinkly stretch forth
Tracing lines of bold color
Against the dark blueness
Beauty is given visible form
Birds twitter and sing
Cheerfully filling the air
With their morning chorus
In a powerful rush of light
The darkness is pulled back
A giant curtain uplifted
Revealing the glory of a land
Covered in dewy grass
Dotted with colorful blooms
And sparkling spider webs
The slate has been wiped clean
A new beginning is here
Morning has come
It is time to
Rise and face the day.
