A Reader’s Developement

March 25, 2014

The first books I ever read by myself were:

  • The Little House Series by Laura Ingalls Wilder
  • The Black Stallion Books by Walter Farley
  •  Marguerite Henry’s horse books

Ready for something new, I read Westerns, the collected works of:

  • Zane Grey
  • and Louis L’Amour

When I tired of those it was the:

  • Witch World books by Andre Norton
  • and The Chronicles of Amber by Roger Zelazny

Then it was on to:

  • The Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien
  • Anne McCaffrey
  • Andre Norton
  • Robert Heinlein
  • and assorted Science Fiction, Fantasy, and Romance novels.

By my twenties I had discovered a wide world of books. My current Favorites are alphabetically:

  • Jo Beverly
  • Lois McMaster Bujold
  • Tom Clancy
  • Kresley Cole
  • Catherine Coulter
  • Clive Cussler
  • Christina Dodd
  • David Drake
  • David & Leigh Eddings
  • Christine Feehan
  • Eric Flint
  • Alan Dean Foster
  • Dick Francis
  • Terry Goodkind
  • Laurell K. Hamilton
  • Charlene Harris
  • Linda Howard
  • Hannah Howell
  • Sherrilyn Kenyon
  • Jayne Ann Krentz (aka Jayne Castle and Amanda Quick)
  • Mercedes Lackey
  • Stephanie Laurens
  • Elizabeth Lowell
  • L.E. Modesitt Jr.
  • Karen Marie Moning
  • John Ringo
  • Nora Roberts (aka J.D. Robb)
  • Lynsey Sands
  • John Sandford
  • S.M. Stirling
  • and David Webber
