Snapshot poem # 4

Red sunrise over palmtree and ocean

Red sunrise over palmtree and ocean (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

Dawn coming over the sea,
banded streaks of color,
waves breaking on shore,
sand dunes receding into darkness,
clouds traced with vibrant maroon-orange,
fade to a paler orange-yellow,
which mellows to yellow-cream,
a misty, murky, morning Moon,
with foggy clouds obscuring it,
eating a hole in the Sun,
the bright shining Morning star,
gleaming from the small patch of clear sky,
the tang of salt in my nose,
carried on a cool, gentle breeze,
the soft swishing of the ocean,
surging against the shore,
matching the beat of my heart.
