Keep a sharp eye open,
for danger,
and listen well,
for the sound,
of hounds,
on your trail,
baying loud.
Run away fast,
or you’ll not live,
to see another day.
Wade through streams,
dart across fallen trees,
dodge among the bushes,
doubleback on your path,
run like the very breeze.
Try every trick,
of the trade,
to shake them loose.
If they fail,
and the dogs remain,
fast upon your tail,
then seek a place,
to turn at bay,
and fight to your death,
in a glorious way.
