Snapshot Poem # 2

October 17, 2013

I write some poems in an attempt to capture an image or moment in time like a photograph, I call them Snapshots. This is one.

Geese flying in an orange sky.

Geese flying in an orange sky. (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

The sun has set

leaving the faintest

tracing of red

on the horizon

a puffy cloud

is illuminated

against the sky

the trees are covered

with leaves of green, yellow,

orange, red, and brown,

wild geese honk mournfully

silhouettes of black

that fly south

in the gathering gloom

a gentle breeze whispers

chill over the land

Winter is on its way.
