This morning I found what must be the Edmund Hillary of slugs. If you are unfamiliar with the name, Edmund Hillary was a mountain climber from New Zealand. On May 29, 1953 he and his Nepalese Sherpa guide, Tenzing Norgay were the first two men to climb to the summit of Mt. Everest. Mt. Everest is the highest point on earth at 8,848 miles. I saw the slug on my living room window. The slug was three-quarters of the way up the window pane, wich means it was eight-and-a-half to nine feet off the ground. To get there it had to scale three feet of trailer skirting, four feet of siding, and one-and-a-half to two feet of glass. The slug in question measured just over a quarter-inch in length, thus my comparison to Hillary. For something that small to climb so high is equal to Hillary’s scaling of Everest. I will have to go out and wash the window later, there is a trail of slime on it now. Emily
