It is time for the annual event that depending on your temperament you either anticipate or dread, The Fifty-Mile Long Garage Sale. Starting on the last weekend of July,it takes place on State Route 90 from Montezuma to Homer, NY. Hundreds of vendors sell antiques, collectibles, and more. There are also many food vendors set up. Local business’s along the way also offer deals and specials. It is a huge event for the area. If you like shopping and bargains this is your chance. I had to travel into Cortland today. We covered a section of Route 90 from Summerhill to Homer. A number of people were taking advantage of the nice weather to open a day early. It was sunny and pleasantly warm. There was already so much traffic that it took us an extra 10 minutes to get to our destination either way. I am one of those people who dread the event. I normally make every effort possible to avoid going anywhere near Route 90 during this weekend. It can get so congested with parked cars and pedestrians that in some places the road is reduced to a single clear lane for traffic. Happily I can stay home away from the madness for the next two days. Emily
