More rain last night, a quarter-inch on the gauge. It didn’t discourage the fireflies however. There were at least twenty of them blinking under the trees behind my trailer. There were at least two different patterns of blinks. It is slightly cooler and less humid. I saw a small herd of donkeys today on the way into Cortland. There was even a fuzzy little donkey foal. The lilies, black-eyed Susan’s, and daisies are in full bloom. I saw lots of orange tiger lilies as well as bright yellow lilies. I tried “Sweet Baby Ray’s Hickory &  Brown Sugar Barbecue Sauce” on some chicken I fixed for lunch. It was very tasty. Emily
